A thriving Leyland business is set to build a new facility on site to attract more visitors.
Bosses at Charnock Farm on Wigan Road, which has a garden centre and restaurant, have been granted planning permission to build a Dutch Barn to house animals.
Planning documents, which went before South Ribble Council planning officers, stated: “As a compliment to the wildlife attracted to the garden centre site by the pond and landscaping, it has proven popular to introduce various domesticated animals to be enjoyed by children and adults.
“In order to maintain this facility, a covered wintering area would be desirable, which would also include food storage.”
It adds: “The Dutch Barn is deemed necessary because, particularly with the wet summer, visitors and animals (including the food and bedding) were getting uncomfortably wet.”
No letters of representation were submitted to the council.
