A new chip shop has opened its doors in Leyland.

Rezaul Majid has taken over the former Th’owd Chippy on Towngate and opened up at the weekend under the new name, Cod’s Plaice.

He said: “My sister Jushna Chouldhry will run the chip shop, and we’ve kept on staff from the old chippy so they can show us the recipes, to keep customers happy.

“It was a very popular place, and we wanted to be consistent.”

“We opened on Saturday and were out and about in Leyland offering samples and speaking to members of the community to spread the word.”

He says it’s an ‘exciting time’ as he is also launching an Indian takeaway right next door in the next few weeks.

Mumbai Masala is set to open in mid April.
