Stephen Bullock surveys a very wet Worden Park after the Leyland Festival was cancelled

The Leyland Festival will now take place during the weekend of September 22.

The Festival Committee, which was forced to postpone the event last Friday due to a downpour which flooded Worden Park, has revealed the new date to the Guardian.

Chairman of the committee, Stephen Bullock, said: “The problem we have now is that a lot of the key volunteers aren’t available in September - I’m cancelling my holiday to be here - but we really need people to come forward now and support this.”

People who bought tickets and programmes for the event are being asked to keep hold of them and use them in September.

This one took nine months to arrange, but Stephen helped organise the return of the festival in 2009, which he managed to pull together in just 10 weeks.

“It will be a challenge,” he said. “But I want to assure people that this is not the end of the Leyland Festival.

“We will be back!”
