Probe after woman, 37, dies

A police investigation is underway in Leyland after a woman died last night.

Police were called to a house on East Street, Leyland, at 10.30pm on Thursday after reports that a 37-year-old had collapsed.

Paramedics and police attended and gave her first aid before taking her to Chorley Hospital.

She died at 5.30am on Friday.

Police activity is ongoing in Leyland Lane this afternoon (Friday) in connection with the incident.

Her death is currently being treated as unexplained and a Home Office post mortem examination will be carried out later to establish a cause of death.
