Second person killed at Leyland Railway Station
Two people have died at Leyland's train station in less than five days.
On Tuesday, emergency services were called to the station after reports a man had been struck by a train.
The incident, which involved the 7.17am Manchester to Blackpool train, is currently being treated as unexplained and the man has not yet been identified.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Shortly after 8.30am on Tuesday, 27 July, BTP received a report of a man being struck by a train.
"Officers from BTP and Lancashire Constabulary attended the incident and discovered the body of a man on the tracks.
"Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances leading up to his death."
The news comes just days after a 60-year-old woman, who has also not yet been named, was struck by a train on the same tracks.
Paramedics were called to the station on Friday at around 2.40pm but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file is currently being prepared for the coroner.
