South Ribble Conservative Association has named their prospective parliamentary candidate for the 2015 General Election.
Current MP Lorraine Fullbrook has chose not to stand for re-election for personal reasons, and taking her place at the ballot box will be Seema Kennedy.
Association members overwhelmingly voted for Ms Kennedy at a meeting last week.
A high number of applications were received to represent the Conservatives, who will be defending a 5,554 majority after winning the seat from Labour in 2010.
Ms Kennedy said: “I’m humbled and honoured to have been selected as the Parliamentary candidate for South Ribble.
“The residents will be my first priority and I’ll be working every hour of every day on their behalf.
“It’s a great Association, and people have been very warm in welcoming me. I can’t wait to get stuck in.”
Local Conservative Association chairman Phil Smith said: “I’m really looking forward to working with Seema.
“She was the stand-out candidate from a list of excellent applicants, and we aim to build on the excellent work Lorraine has done.
“The Association has a strong team of councillors and volunteers, and they are ready to support Seema in delivering electoral victory in the 2015 General Election.
“I wish to thank the many who have shown an interest in the position.”
