Two women have been sentenced for their roles in a horrific glassing attack that left a young Leyland mum scarred for life.
Zara Allen, 19, received 12 stitches at Royal Preston Hospital after she was attacked by two women in Barrister’s in Towngate, Leyland, in an unprovoked assault.
Lucie Clarke, 22, of Croston Road, Farington Moss, Leyland, and Jasmine McFadyen-King, 22, Howick Cross Lane, Penwortham, pleaded guilty to wounding when they appeared at Preston Crown Court.
Miss Allen, a dental nurse from Leyland, who has a one-year-old boy, said she was dancing with friends when she was attacked at around 1am on July 14 last year.
Clarke and McFayden-King had been warned about their behaviour in the bar earlier that evening after they were seen giving Miss Allen intimidating looks.
Miss Allen had complained to door staff as two women had been pushing into her all night but things came to a head when she was punched and attacked with a glass.
The glass cut her left cheek, above her eyebrow, her back, neck, shoulder and arm.
Speaking to the Guardian at the time, Miss Allen said she couldn’t pick her baby up because of her back injuries, adding: “I’ve had 12 stitches under anaesthetic and butterfly ones in my face. The cuts in my back are deep wounds.
“The doctor said the ones on my back, neck and arm are going to scar.”
Judge Simon Newell, sitting at Burnley Crown Court, sentenced McFayden-King to two years and six months in prison.
Clarke was handed a 20- month sentence in a young offenders institution, suspended for two years.
Det Sgt Richard Horton, of Leyland CID, said: “This was an unpleasant and unprovoked attack on a member of the public who was on a night out in Leyland town centre.
“The victim is recovering from what happened to her but she is likely to be left with lasting scars which has been reflected in the sentence.
“This shows that if someone tries to commit an offence like this in Leyland we will find them and we will bring them before the court.”
