Shopkeeper threatened with knife

A woman shopkeeper was threatened at knifepoint during an “extremely distressing” robbery at an off-license.

Officers said a man entered The Beer Store in Station Road, Bamber Bridge, at around 5pm on Thursday, October 23.

He threatened the 29-year-old woman shopkeeper with a knife while demanding she give him money from the till.

The offender then removed around £600 in cash from the till before fleeing from the store on foot.

The offender was white, tall and thin, and aged between 18 to 20-years-old.

There were no customers in the shop at the time of the offence, but police have asked anyone with information about the offence or the man responsible to come forward to help their investigation.

Sergeant Richard Horton, from South Ribble CID, said: “This is a nasty robbery which has left the female shop worker extremely distressed.

“An investigation is underway but anyone with any information that could assist with our enquiries should contact South Ribble CID on 01772 415947 or call 101.”

People with information can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, or alternatively go online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.

No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
