Soccer bid to raise cash for Sofia
A team of Leyland footballers will only have one goal on their mind when they take to the pitch this month - to raise as much money as possible for a young meningitis victim.
More than 30 footballers will gather in Worden Park on October 19 to help the dreams of brave Sofia Crockatt come true.
The players are hoping to help boost efforts to raise the 10,000 needed to buy a prosthetic limb for the three-year-old, who lost a leg after battling meningitis last year.
Sofia, of Balcarres Road, was left fighting for her life after contracting the killer bug, but beat the odds to pull through and now on the road to recovery.
Team Sofia FC will take on players made up of staff from Leyland restaurant La Casa Caterina, who have been leading the fundraising efforts, in the match, which hopes to raise at least 1,000.
If you would like to sponsor the event or find out more about what the teams are doing then please email Jamie at sofiafc@live.co.uk or call: 07525266127.
