Steve Royle makes solo debut

Chorley comedian Steve Royle is gearing up for his first-ever solo hometown gig this weekend.

The madcap comic, best known for his BBC Radio Lancashire programme and as Mad Edgar at Camelot Theme Park, is playing Chorley Little Theatre on Friday, September 25, at 7.30pm.

It is the first time he has brought his hilarious full-length solo show to hometown audiences – but this one is certainly not for families.

According to the perennial panto favourite, who has performed with the likes of Peter Kay and Steve Coogan, it's strictly adults-only as he presents a wild night of anarchic stand-up, outrageous characters and crazy sketches.

He said: "I've played Chorley many times in the past but never on my own.

"The last time I did the Little Theatre I was opening up for Dave Spikey.

"To be doing the full solo show is great and it features my observational style of comedy – a lot of reminiscing and anecdotes.

"I spend time talking about evolution and reflect on when the continental quilt became the duvet."

The show also features Steve's four-man comedy troupe Slaughterhouse Live, which includes current Camelot favourite Martin Pemberton.

Lovers of Steve's family-friendly fayre don't have to be too disappointed either, because he's back in Chorley on Thursday, October 29, at 2.30pm with a special family show at the Little Theatre, off Dole Lane.

'Steve Royle's: Right Royle Family Show' will feature highlights from his glittering career at Camelot and from his recent exploits in panto at the Blackpool Grand Theatre.

Steve, who has featured in Phoenix Nights and Max and Paddy, will juggle guitars, spit ping-pongs and get the crowd going with other zany antics.

Tickets for both gigs cost 10 for adults and 5 for children for the family show.

Tickets are available from Malcolms Musicland on 01257 264362 or online at www.chorleylittletheatre.com.
