Town’s skate park will open this month
The Warehouse Leyland is taking shape
Excitement is mounting for the grand opening of Leyland’s new skate park.
Grandad Peter Chandler has been working hard to create the new attraction in a warehouse in the town, and has confirmed that it will open by the end of the month.
“Everything’s going to plan,” he said. “It’s very exciting; I think people are going to love it.
“All the ramps have been installed and we’re having some artists coming in to spray graffiti on the walls next.”
Peter, 64, who lives in Hugh Lane, used the warehouse for his furniture business, but after it closed, he recognised Leyland’s need for a skate park.
He’s spent £100,000 on the unit in Talbot Road, and has revealed it will open on July 28.
“We’re also getting retro arcade machines in there,” he said. “And there will be a chill-out room upstairs with sofas and vending machines.
“There will also be a place for parents to sit, but this is really for the kids.”
The new indoor attraction, called The Warehouse Leyland, includes facilities for skate boards, roller skates and BMX bikes.
