Tragic Leyland murder victim laid to rest

Friends and family of Leyland murder victim Kevin Rogers have laid him to rest.

The 23-year-old from Bannister Drive died from a single stab wound in the back after a New Year party in nearby Edgehill Crescent.

As many as 500 people were expected to say their final goodbyes at St Andrew's Church in Worden Lane on Wednesday.

Mourners were asked to attend in trademark hats and tracksuits as a tribute to Kevin, a former Worden Sports College pupil.

Tributes were left on social networking sites after the service, with friends saying: "Up in heaven you'll be partying hard and watching over your friends who are missing your charm."

Another said: "You had a mint send off. I know you'll be proud up there of all your family and close mates for what they did for you."

Susan Anne Kenny, 33, of Manor House Close, Leyland, has been charged with Kevin's murder. She is due to enter a plea when she appears at Preston Crown Court on March 29.
