Two arrested following armed robbery in Leyland

Police investigating an armed robbery in Leyland have arrested two men this morning.

Detectives launched an investigation after a robbery at around 9.45am on May 23 at the Lloyds TSB bank on Hough Lane in Leyland.

Two masked men wearing dark clothing got out of a car brandishing what appeared to be a handgun and a sledgehammer and threatened a G4S security guard making a delivery to the bank.

They then went inside the bank and demanded money.

A 27-year-old man and 33-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of robbery at addresses in Leigh, Greater Manchester.

They have been taken to a police station in Lancashire where they will be interviewed.
