People have enjoyed the popular dog show in previous years, which has been confirmed in the line-up for the Leyland Festival this year too, on June 21

The ‘Dog most like its owner’ and ‘Dog with the waggiest tail’ are expected to draw crowds to one of Leyland Festival’s most popular attractions this summer.

The dog show on Worden Park has been confirmed to return on June 21, along with a special horse show this year.

The event will kick off with a special display by the Bowland and Pennine Mountain Rescue Dogs, and there will also be a demonstration and training session called ‘You and Your Pet Behaviour’.

The show itself will include rosettes and prizes for the Golden Oldie (age seven and over); Cutest Puppy (up to 12 months old); Best Junior Handler (age six to 16); Best Rescue Dog; Most Handsome Boy; and Prettiest Girl.

The overall winner, Best In Show, will get a trophy.

There will also be plenty of other dog-friendly activities for the highlight of the canine calendar, from treat stalls to professional photography
sessions.

Jo Worsford, of the Leyland Festival Committee, said: “Pamper your pooch and visit our dog friendly stalls - offering homemade dog treats, pet accessories, dog grooming, dog photography, plus free vet checks and reduced price micro-chipping.

“Please also support our local dog charities, who are committed to helping homeless and unwanted dogs in need.”

Each dog may be entered into a maximum of three categories, and it costs £2 per dog per category, with proceeds going to the RSPCA.

To get involved, just head down to Worden Park on the day and register your pooch at the arena.
