Youth institution punishment for crime duo

Two men will both serve one year in custody for a series of motor vehicle thefts and burglaries in South Ribble.
Samuel North, 18, of Collins Road, Bamber Bridge, and Shaun Abbott, 20, of Rowan Court, Preston, were both sentenced at Preston Crown Court yesterday to 12 months in a youth offenders institution after previously pleading guilty to the offences.
The incidents which led to the charges took place in Lostock Hall in April with cash, mobile phones and CDs amongst items taken from cars by Abbott and North.
Possessions stolen from a business premises and homes included a laptop, musical instruments and a charity box.
Geoff Hurst, of Leyland CID, said: “Multiple items of value were taken by both Abbott and North in Lostock Hall during the spring.

“I was particular shocked at the stealing of a charity box which I consider a really terrible deed.
“They will now both have the opportunity to reflect on the trouble caused in custody.”
