Two Leyland men were among a group of long-serving councillors rewarded for their dedication at South Ribble Council last week.

Coun Derek Forrest, who represents Leyland Central, and Coun Michael Green, of Moss Side, each received badges for 12 years of service, along with other councillors from across the borough.

Council leader Margaret Smith, who covers New Longton and Hutton East, led the way celebrating 32 years as a councillor.

Coun Peter Stettner, from Little Hoole and Much Hoole, was also presented with a plaque for his two decades of service at a full council meeting at Leyland’s Civic Centre on Wednesday.

Coun Smith said: “We are very lucky to have some incredibly hardworking, dedicated and experienced councillors serving in South Ribble.”
