People will start to see houses being built on one of Leyland’s largest new developments by early next month - but the scheme will take another five years to complete, it has been confirmed.
Taylor Wimpey has already started groundwork on the former Farington Business Park near Morrisons, which used to be the Leyland Motors Farington Works site, and has revealed that there has already been a lot of interest from buyers.
A spokesman said that off-plan sales are ‘booming’ on the new Albion Gate development, where 234 new homes are set to be built.
The first homes will be ready to move into in September this year, and the overall build will take five years, he revealed.
David Hnyda, sales manager for Taylor Wimpey North West, added: “We’ve had an overwhelming response since we opened the sales office on the site, and with reservations coming in thick and fast, we’re more than confident the development will continue to thrive.”
Prices for the three and four bedroom family homes, which will be accessed off Wheelton Lane, will start at £167,995.
Planning permission was applied for by landowners Ainscough Brothers LLP, and this is just phase one of the wider development.
The second half of the project will see a similar number of homes built on the site in future.
Only 20 of houses in the first phase will be affordable, and it is not yet known how much affordable housing will be provided in the second phase – a detailed planning application will need to be submitted to and approved by South Ribble Council before work commences.
The development is set to include three areas of on-site open space with play facilities, and £1.3million will also be provided to fund highways improvements including a cycle link, as well as town centre enhancement works.
