A promising saxophonist and singer will open a new Leyland jazz club.
AJ Brown, 22, from Halifax, is thrilled to be launching The Railway Suite’s latest event, which will take place on the first Tuesday of every month.
Billed as Jazz at The Railway Suite...THE Smoothest Jazz Club in town, sessions start on May 1, from 8.30pm to 11pm at The Railway, on Preston Road.
The purpose-built function room was completed last month.
It has disabled lift access, seating for around 100 people, a stage, and inhouse P.A.
Tickets are £5 and doors open from 8pm.
AJ said: “I am absolutely looking forward to it.
“It is a bit of a privilege to launch a new night.
“I went to Leeds School of Music as a saxophonist, and half way through I started singing. That started taking over a bit.
“My act includes singing and playing the sax.
“There will be a trio of a piano player, a bass player and a drum player at the concert.
“My big inspiration is Michael Buble.
“We’ve put our own twist and own arrangements to classic songs.
“Anyone who likes jazz will enjoy our act.”
AJ and the trio will be perform a mix of original songs and covers, including Mack the Knife, Let There Be Love and The Way You Make Me Feel.
He has previously been part of the Wigan and Leeds jazz scene, but is hoping for some big financial backing over the next three to four years.
His debut album On Song features original tunes, and is available to download on www.cdbaby.com and from the AJ Brown website www.aj-brown.co.uk. There are also links to his video performances on YouTube.
