A family-run nursery is in the running to win £20,000 after making it to the finals of a competition.

Oakmount Day Nursery, based in Kellet Lane, Bamber Bridge, is one of only five nurseries and pre-schools in the UK to be selected in the final stages of satellite television station Nick Jr’s ‘Help Dora Help’ competition.

It made it to the final of the competition after impressing the judging panel with the children’s poster design and their ideas for how they would use the £20,000 funding.

Owner Rosemary Tildsley said: “The minibus and other equipment we would buy if we win - such as a telescope, magnifying glasses and metal detectors - will open up a whole new world of adventures and learning for our children.

Now the nursery needs members of the public to get behind them - because the winner will be decided by a public vote.

Voting for the competition is open until November 2.
