An iconic historic mill could be bulldozed to make way for 200 homes.
The 100-year-old Wesley Street Mill in Bamber Bridge, which has lain derelict for a number of years, is set to be torn down for a new housing development.
An outline application setting out the principle for development has just been submitted by applicant Gorrie Ltd, who own the mill as well as three industrial units on the site.
The mill is the former home of Bamber Bridge Spinning and Weaving Company.
Earlier this year South Ribble Council completed a deal to buy the former Mackenzie Arms pub site, off Station Road, to open up the way for development after problems with the mill area attracting anti-social behaviour.
The council made it one of its priorities, saying something must be done to transform the decaying site.
