Heather Watson of Trinity Church of England/Methodist Primary School in Buckshaw Village is celebrating after her home design project won a competition to go on public display.

Designing her ideal home, Heather was awarded the top spot by local housebuilder Stewart Milne Homes. Heather’s design will be framed and take pride of place in the showhome of the company’s local Farrington Park development.

Fellow pupils Leah Dowling and Joe Harris won second and third prize with their ideal home designs.

Commenting on the project, acting deputy headteacher, Ean Quirk, said: “The school was delighted to be able to partner with Stewart Milne Homes for this creative project.

“Partnerships like these are so important, making learning real and relevant for children.

“The competition was a great way to bring the pupils from all the years together and let them be really creative with their designs.

“Heather is over the moon to win first place with her design and we are all very proud to have her work on display for all to see.”

Julie Rayner, the sales manager from Stewart Milne Homes that presented Heather with her prize, added: “Trinity Primary School is a close neighbour of our Farrington Park development and we are always looking for opportunities to engage with the local community.

“We are delighted to be involved with the school’s project and were very impressed with the level of creativity in the competition designs.

“It was a tough call, but Heather’s ideal home design was very innovative. Combining an overview of the house and detailed individual rooms really made it stand out.

“We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Heather, Leah and Joe and thank all the children for taking part in such a fun and interesting competition.”

Heather’s design will go on display at the Farrington Park showhome on the edge of Buckshaw Village, open Thursday to Monday, 10am to 5pm.
