Up to £3,500 worth of damage has been caused by thugs smashing car windscreens and garden walls in Farington Moss.

Police received nine reports of vehicles being targeted and two walls being damaged around the Croston Road and Heatherleigh area overnight between Saturday, February 1, and Sunday, February 2.

Neighbourhood teams are now investigating and appealing for witnesses.

Rachael Jackson, community beat manager for Farington, said: “Officers find this a selfish and mindless crime which only causes upset and inconvenience to local residents.

“We will be increasing patrols in the area and across Leyland to target offenders and prevent further incidents.”

She added that CCTV in the area is being examined as part of the enquiries.
