Competitors in the Ironman UK triathlon received cheers, drinks and plenty of support as they made their way through Chorley and Leyland.
The cycling section of Sunday’s race took in areas including Rivington, Buckshaw Village, Wheelton, Brindle and Whittle-le-Woods.
People waved placards and applauded the triathletes.
Some supported the competitors by manning feed stations along the route. More than 30 people, including Scouts, volunteered at a station run by Buckshaw Village Community Association.
The 10th Ironman UK saw more than 2,000 participants swim 2.4 miles at Pennington Flash, Leigh, cycle 112 miles around Lancashire and run 26.2 miles in Bolton.
Frenchman Cyril Viennot crossed the line first in eight hours 44 minutes,while the women’s race was won by Brit Tamsin Lewis in nine hours 52 minutes.
