South Ribble Mayor Jim Marsh will carry out his final duty as the borough’s first citizen today - and his biggest ‘meet and greet’ so far.
Coun Marsh and his wife Susan are travelling to Accrington to meet Her Majesty the Queen, as part of her Diamond Jubilee tour.
It will be Coun Marsh’s last appointment ahead of tonight’s full council meeting at the Civic Centre in Leyland, where the new mayor, Coun Colin Clarke, will take over the reigns.
Coun Marsh said: “We’ve had a wonderful time, and I can’t believe my year as mayor is nearly over.
“I feel privileged to have met so many dedicated people and witnessed first hand much of the amazing work that goes on to make South Ribble such a great place.
“Susan and I have enjoyed attending all the functions and promoting South Ribble. I said I wanted to spread some fun during my year, and hopefully we’ve succeeded in putting smiles on people’s faces at the functions we’ve attended.”
