An intruder who stole a Leyland family’s car after taking car keys in a night time burglary in their home has been jailed for 16 months.

Connor Holland, 19, admitted burglary and theft.

At 7.30pm on Monday, November 10, victim Richard Hutton arrived home at Leafy Close in his BMW 1.

The architect parked on his driveway and left his car locked. He left his keys wallet and mobile phone on a window sill in the kitchen.

In the morning, he discovered his keys, wallet and phone were missing.

The vehicle was valued at £10,000.

Preston Crown Court heard that CCTV footage from a neighbouring house was recovered by police and showed a dark coloured Corsa arriving.

At 12.46am, the same vehicle was driven off the close, by an unknown accomplice, and the victim’s vehicle immediately behind it.

Information was received that Holland’s car was in convoy with the stolen vehicle travelling towards Greater
Manchester.

Police attended at Holland’s home in Gorse Drive, Little Hulton, and a mobile phone was found hidden in wardrobe, with the BMW car key in a dressing gown in the bedroom.
