Police are hunting a teenaged flasher after a “disturbing” incident involving two young girls in a Leyland park.

Detectives have appealed for help catching the youth in a football shirt who terrified the girls, both aged 12, as they played on swings in Worden Park.

The incident, which police have just revealed information about, happened on August 1 as the friends were enjoying an evening on the children’s play area.

Police say the youth, thought to be about 14 or 15, approached them at around 8pm and made sexual comments. He is then alleged to have exposed himself to the girls and committed a sex act in front of them before running off.

The offender is described as a white male of skinny build, tall and with scruffy black burly hair. He had pale skin and was wearing a Manchester United top.

Police say they are keen to apprehend the culprit before he strikes again. DC Ed Clayton, of the Lancashire Constabulary’s Public Protection Unit, said: “This was a disturbing incident involving two young girls who were simply playing in the park on a summer’s evening.

“I would appeal for anyone who saw this male or who has any information to get in touch with us.”

The incident is the latest in a long line of sex offences committed against young girls in Worden Park over the past 20 years.

The popular public space has seen attacks on at least nine girls ranging in age from 10 to 17 since 1993, several of them on the children’s play area.

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
