A project to build 234 houses in Leyland town centre in underway.
The new estate is set to be built at the former Farington Business Park behind Morrisons, which was once the Leyland Motors Farington Works site.
Taylor Wimpey’s new development, called Albion Gate, will see three and four-bedroom houses built there throughout 2014.
Home-builder Taylor Wimpey has now officially opened the doors to the new housing development – which will be accessed off Wheelton Lane – with a sales presence on site to give prospective buyers an insight into the homes, prices and incentives that will be available on the 234 home scheme.
The land is owned by Ainscough Brothers LLP and this is just phase one of the wider development.
The second half of the project will see a similar number of homes built on the site in future.
Only 20 of houses in the first phase will be affordable, and it is not yet known how much affordable housing will be provided in the second phase – a detailed planning application will need to be submitted before work commences.
The development is set to include three areas of on-site open space with play facilities, and £1.3m will also be provided to fund highways improvements including a cycle link, as well as town centre enhancement works.
