Bamber Bridge 4
Great goals, great saves, a second half fightback and yet another sending off. It was a typical day at the office for Bamber Bridge Football Club on Saturday.
Two goals apiece from top score Alex Porter and striker Neil Zarac were enough to secure all three points in a real seesaw encounter.
At one point Brig were cruising at 3-0 up after 56 minutes but Phil Entwistle's team rarely make it easy for themselves and were left clinging on towards the end.
Entwistle was away at the weekend so it was left to his deputy Neil Crowe to make four changes to the side that beat local rivals Chorley on Tuesday.
Tom Ince came in for the injured John Kennedy and Dave McCann returned to the defence for recent signing Krystian Liptrot.
Danny Mahoney replaced Ryan-Zico Black but it turned out to be a memorable day for all the wrong reasons for the youngster.
Porter, who scored twice against Wakefield last Saturday, predictably came in for Anthony Murt, while Mike Mason also returned.
With just six minutes on the clock Brig opened the scoring when Porter got on the end of a flick-on from Zarac.
The same combination were at it again six minutes before the break.
A precise pass from Zarac found his striking partner Porter who finished with the confidence of a forward in form.
The roles were reversed early in the second half. With 51 minutes gone a Porter free-kick found its way to Zarac who finished neatly.
At 3-0 it should have been game over but five minutes later Garforth cut the arrears through Jason St Juste.
The nerves really started to jangle after 65 minutes when the home team's Greg Kelly headed in the rebound after his original effort cannoned against the crossbar.
The visitors were indebted to a double save from Andy Banks to prevent an equaliser but they scored the all important fourth after a Zarac header from a corner with 13 minutes to go.
Mahoney, who has already been sent off once this season, got a straight red card for a foul and Garforth immediately grabbed a third but fortunately consolation goal with a header from captain Brett Renshaw.
