Bamber Bridge chairman Terry Gammans has called on local people to get behind their nearest non-league club.
Gammans believes low attendances are causing a real headache for chairmen at UniBond First Division clubs: "We went to Newcastle Blue Star last weekend and had a coach load of people with us yet the total attendance was 94. I thought that was amazing as they are one of the top teams in the league.

"I do have a message for people to stop sitting around watching football on satellite channels on a Saturday and get down to our ground."

Last week Brig crashed out of the Lancashire Co-operative Trophy when they lost 2-0 at home against Marine which was their last chance of landing a cup.

Gammans said: "Phil (Entwistle) is doing a great job by using different formations. I think we have a good squad."

Gammans is optimistic about the club developing in future after helping to agree the deal for the stadium sponsorship with Walton Summit firm QED.

He said: "We have been amazed by local businesses who are interested in supporting the club. Danny (Abrams) has done a great job and we are looking to develop more commercial activities."
