Leyland schoolgirl Derri Jump has signed for the biggest football club in the world – Manchester United.
The Euxton teenager, who goes to Leyland St Mary's Technology College, put pen to paper just days into a successful three-week trial.

Derri, 15, was one of the founding members of Euxton Girls after showing an interest while at Euxton St Mary's Primary School, and has now been playing for seven years, racking up more than 20 trophies and 15 medals.

Mum Joanne said: "Derri loves her football and takes after her dad Paul, who used to be a goalkeeper for Euxton Villa, and her uncle."

Despite the teenager signing for the Old Trafford club, she admits to being an Arsenal fan and even turned up to her first training session in the rival club's kit – to be greeted with a lot of mickey-taking.
Joanne said: "She got a bit of stick for that.

"Derri's first three games with United have gone undefeated. However, she does recognise that every good keeper has to have a great team in front of them and recognises that these opportunities don't come along every day."

She has had sessions with the Blackburn Rovers Centre of Excellence and attends Safehands Goalkeeping Academy every Tuesday.

She trains for United at The Cliff in Manchester every Wednesday, with games on a Saturday and plays for Penwortham Girls on a Sunday, where she has been voted 'goalkeeper of the league' twice in three seasons.

The year 11 pupil is currently taking her GCSEs, excelling in physical education and hoping to go to college with a view to being a forensic scientist.
She fills what little spare time she has by playing the flute in the school band and is the chair of the school council.

But Derri's best catch this season was not during a game. Joanne explained: "Derri is a keen fisherwoman and her biggest catch is an 8lb carp!"
