Bamber Bridge boss Phil Entwistle today blasted the tackle that broke star defender Stuart Howson's leg just into the second half of their UniBond League clash with Wakefield on Saturday.
The Brig manager said: "It was one of the worst incidents I have seen happen in his footballing career – either as a player or manage and I'm shocked the referee did not send a player off.''

He said: "I have seen some people coming out of 50-50 tackles with an injury but Stuart was on the floor and he had just cleared it when he said he saw a blue sock going in on him.

"I was standing on the sidelines and there was a bit of a melee and I wanted to get our players away because it was going to be a free for all.

"We were told that it was this number and that number responsible for causing the injury but we did not get any apologies from any of those players.

"At this time my thoughts are with him and his family and I wish him a speedy recovery."
