A Bamber Bridge teenager faces an agonising wait to discover whether he can continue his quest to represent Great Britain in cycling.
Lewis Balycki, pictured, attended trials with 17 other young hopefuls from around the country last weekend hoping to earn a place on the Great Britain Olympic Development Programme (ODP).
Mum Jacqui Balycki said: "He will find out in a fortnight whether he is part of the team and it is difficult to say how many people will get accepted.
"Last season they took on 10 people but it can change every year depending on the quality of the field they want."
But the 16-year-old will not be losing any sleep about getting picked for the ODP as he prepares for a Revolution cycling event at the Manchester Velodrome on November 15.
Jacqui said: "He will be competing in the future stars category with three other North West riders against teams from other regions.
"It will be second time he has competed at the event but it will be interesting for him as he is a natural road rider instead of being on the indoor circuit as he has to prove he can do both to qualify for the ODP.
"Also he will get the chance to meet the top Great Britain cyclists and talk to them about how they can improve.
"Lewis is excited about meeting Mark Cavendish as he does both road races and track cycling and has been doing well."
