Another defeat for Adlington Rangers
Adlington Rangers A slipped to another defeat, despite drafting in a soldier.
Paul Cadman, a sergeant in the Army, was part of a much changed side that took on Rylands away on Saturday.
Coach Martin Hill said: "Paul played for us for 12 years when he was based at Catterick and would come back every weekend.
"He's a local lad has played for the Army team - if we had more players like him we'd be alright."
For the first half hour it was fairly even, with Adlington's two younger players, Ryan Fitten and Dean Hill, showed up well in defence, and Lee Speakman having a great game.
Constant Rylands pressure paid off when they squeezed in on the wing for the opening try and goal. Rangers then started to make mistakes and tended to hang on instead of passing out.
They were close to Rylands' line on a few occasions but tried barging the line instead of using unmarked players.
Rylands scored again and their more experienced players were finding the gaps. They also had an excellent goal kicker who converted tries from the sideline taking a good lead at the break 30-0.
In the second half it was more of the same, Rangers tiring with non-stop defending.
They finally scored when quick passing put veteran Mark Tongue through for an unconverted try.
Rylands ran out easy winners in the end 54-4, with Lee Speakman man of the match.
