Bamber Bridge lost to FC Halifax for the second time in five days.
Following their 4-1 reverse in Tuesday night, Tony Greenwood's men were hoping to gain a confidence-boosting win but lost to the better side.
The game was the first match played at the QED Stadium since December 1 because of the wintry weather.
Ben Hinchcliffe started in goal for Brig instead of Mike Hale but it wasn't clear why Hale wasn't playing.
In misty conditions Richie Allen played up front but he didn't have his shooting boots on in an evenly-contested first half.
The key period came in five second half minutes when Halifax's Richard Marshall (54 minutes) and James Dean (59) scored the decisive goals.
Phil Eastwood had a penalty for Brig after 75 minutes but his spot-kick was saved by the visitors' No 1 Jonathan Hedge.
A crowd of 486 and the bad news was that local rivals Chorley have now leapfrogged Brig.
