Bamber Bridge earn a draw against Rossendale

Rossendale United 2 Bamber Bridge 2

STRIKER Phil Eastwood confounded his critics by firing home two goals to help Brig snatch a share of the points.

Manager Tony Greenwood only had 13 players to choose from ahead of kick-off because of a few injury problems.

Brig got off to the best possible start on six minutes when Eastwood latched onto a clearance by keeper Ben Hinchcliffe to score.

Eastwood could have had a hat-trick in the next 10 minutes as he failed to convert his chances.

Midfielder Ashley Dunn then could not latch onto the end of a ball into the box by Chris Marlow.

Just before the half-hour mark, Rossendale pulled one goal back by Tom Smith and it stayed that way until the break.

In the second period, Chris Marlow's overhead free-kick went wide of the mark.

Rossendale United's David Owen put the home side ahead after Daniel Shannon's shot rebounded off the post.

On 73 minutes Brig substitute Phil Watson was brought down in the area and Eastwood stood up to slot home the spot kick with ease

Bamber Bridge: Ben Hinchliffe, James Heywood, Martin Moran, Phil Denney,

Phil Robinson (Phil Watson 67), Ashley Dunn, Danny Mahoney (Josh Cartman 86), Neil Reynolds (c), Phil Eastwood, Shane Oldfield, Chris Marlow.
