Bamber Bridge lose third game in a row
Skelmersdale United 3 Bamber Bridge 1
Bamber Bridge FC's miserable start to 2010 continues after they were beaten by promotion-chasing Skelmersdale United.
The defeat will make Tony Greenwood and his side regret that their fixture earlier this season was abandoned when they were 1-0 up.
Brig were quick out of the starting blocks with Danny Mahoney and Chris Marlow both forcing saves out of goalkeeper Ryan McMahon.
But the visitors suffered an early blow in the ninth minute when defender Phil Robinson was forced off with a hamstring problem.
Things went from bad to worse for Brig in the 15th minute when Skelm's Chris Almond opened the scoring.
Brig started to come back into the game and had a penalty shout turned down after Chris Marlow was brought down in the area.
It remained 1-0 at half-time and Brig were searching for an equaliser but they had to wait until the 70th minute for it to come.
Striker Peter Wright pounced on a mistake by goalkeeper McMahon from a corner.
With seven minutes remaining the home side edged ahead again this time with a goal by Kevin Towey.
In time added on, Skelm made it 3-1 when Karl Ledsham beat Ben Hinchcliffe in the Brig goal.
