LEYLAND CC suffered a collapse of a different kind at Fleetwood on Saturday.
Captain David Makinson said: “The weekend got off to a bad start when, on one of the best days of the summer, we travelled to Fleetwood only to find that a collapsed drain caused the abandonment of a game we really needed to play.
“With the other games being played on Saturday, our quest to win the Championship has become much harder.
“Sunday saw us play at Bamford Fieldhouse in the Lancs Cup quarter-final.
“It is no secret that they are a mini Lashings team, with many stars, including ex-Test players Chris Schofield, Warren Hegg and Marlon Black, plus several ex-League pros.
“It would have been nice to have had Luis Reece and Adam Coates, but we went there determined to give a good account of ourselves.”
