Bamber Bridge boss Neil Crowe is calling on his players to put in a much improved performance ahead of their pre-season tie against AFC Fylde.
Brig ran out 2-1 winners against Runcorn Linnets at the weekend.
The goals came from Curtis Thompson and Chris Marlow.
And while Crowe is pleased to have secured another pre-season victory, he is more interested in the players performances. He said: “Pre-season results don’t really matter to me and I concentrate on the players’ fitness and their performances.
“On Saturday, Runcorn was a good test for us and they have decent players.
“All their side was made up of ex Evo-Stik players but to be honest our performance wasn’t the best.”
This Saturday, Bamber Bridge welcome Conference North side AFC Fylde.
The sides met last year in the semi-final of the Lancashire Trophy.
Fylde ran out the winners on that night despite Brig pushing them close.
And Crowe is hoping his side can put in a big performance.
He added: “We must improve against Fylde. They are a good side and hopefully my lads will rise to the occasion, I think we will know we need to up our game.”
Crowe doesn’t expect any players to join in the coming weeks but one player who has temporarily departed is Mark Buchan. The forward has joined West Lancashire side Lostock St Gerard’s.
Crowe added: “I want Mark to go and get fit and play a few games, it will benefit both sides for the season.”
Brig’s game against Euxton Villa will now take place on Wednesday, August 6 at Euxton Villa. Entry will be free for the game.
