Leyland United were involved in a six goal thriller in DivisionTwo of the West Lancashire League on Saturday, drawing 3-3 at Walney Island.
Young striker Kurt Robinson had given United a two-goal advantage, before Walney reduced the deficit through a wonder strike from Matthew Lockley.
Robinson then increased the United lead with a deft chip to complete a first-half hat-trick, but a sloppy back pass to goalkeeper Danny Nix saw Connor Carson round him and tap the ball into an empty net.
And with five minutes remaining in an action-packed first half, Kenny Mayers’ side lost their lead.
The Leyland rearguard failed to deal with and as the ball was bouncing around in the box Kieran Soloway tapped home from three yards out to make the scores level.
After such an eventful first half, the second half didn’t live up to the same excitement, despite Ash Ball and Ryan Greenwood both having chances.
In the dying moments, the home side had the chance to take all three points but they blazed over from five yards.
This Saturday, United have a home fixture against Furness Rovers (3pm).
