Two second half goals saw Bamber Bridge defeated for the first time in the Evo-Stik League First Division North season.

After an even first half, the hosts dominated the second period.

Iain Howard opened the scoring in the 76th minute before James Ball put the game to bed five minutes before the final whistle.

Brig started the first half strongly, Stu Vasey twice seeing himself through on goal but on both occasions, he shot wide.

The first chance came after he latched onto Joe Booth’s through ball and then the second effort came from a Brett Ormerod pass.

Shortly after the half hour, Brig were dealt a blow as Ormerod limped off with a hamstring injury.

Vics dominated the second half and created a number of chances.

In the 54th minute, Alex Byrne’s drilled shot rattled Marcus Burgess’ post before rebounding out.

With 14 minutes remaining, the breakthrough came, Howard firing in from close range.

Vics doubled their lead five minutes before the end.

Ball found space in the area before firing into the bottom corner.

The game was the last of goalkeeper Burgess who will now return to parent club Salford City.
