Injured Brig star on comeback trail
Forgotten man Craig Sargeson is on the comeback trial and the Bamber Bridge forward could return this month.
The former Clitheroe man has been sidelined since September with Achilles trouble.
Sargeson netted six goals in eight starts for the Irongate men before the injury, but is back in training and the signs are that he could feature soon.
"Craig is on the way back and that's the main thing, we've missed him and he's had a tough time," said Brig boss Tony Greenwood.
"He was in great form before, so to have him back in the picture would be a terrific boost.
"He is making progress every day and if everything goes to plan, and we can get him a reserve game, we could see him in a couple of weeks."
Brig have found goals hard to come by this term, but Greenwood could have found the answer with the capture of Peter Wright, the ex-Burscough and Chorley attacker firing a hat-trick in Tuesday's 3-3 draw at Garforth Town.
Greenwood added: "Peter has a terrific record and is scoring the goals I've brought him here to score.
"At the start we had the meanest defence in the league, but we've leaked too many goals. We have to tighten up."
Brig, at Woodley Sports on Saturday, have it all to do if they are to force their way into the play-off picture, and are 14 points off the final play-off place.
