Hat-trick hero Sarah Winstanley led from the front in Leyland and Chorley’s dominant victory over Clitheroe and Blackburn Northern thirds.

Winstanley bagged herself another hat-trick and there were also goals in a 10-0 rout for Marie Meagher (2), Raelene Strickland (2), Sarah King (2) and Nicola Wallbank.

The victory leaves the Ladies unbeaten in the 2014-15 season.

From the first minute of the game, Leyland and Chorley took control with Winstanley putting the ball in the net on 85 seconds after a confident run by Raelene Strickland and a great pass into the D by Becca Halsall.

Clitheroe and Blackburn struggled to get out of their own half as every attempt was thwarted by L&C.

The home side showed they were up for the game, with Gail Arthur, Eluned Smith and Alison Rigby all impressing in defence.

Paula Thornton, Wallbank and King linked up well to find Winstanley, who again made no mistake finding the net.

The lead was extended almost straight away, as Winstanley put a ball across the D for Strickland to tap home.

Winstanley then grabbed her hat-trick as she lashed a shot on goal which went through the legs of Smith and into the net.

Wallbank then tapped in at the back post from another short corner.

Despite a healthy lead, Leyland and Chorley continued to press and Strickland found herself on the scoresheet after a goalmouth scramble.

The second half was a mirror performance with the home side proving to be far too strong.

Meagher found a gap at the near post to beat the goalkeeper and soon after, King nestled a shot into the net after a determined run forward.

Again Clitheroe and Blackburn struggled to get out of their own half as Leyland and Chorley continued to press.

Halsall had a fantastic lifted shot saved just before Meagher put in the ninth after some great work by Rigby and Strickland.

The final goal went to King as Leyland and Chorley continued to show great determination and teamwork to the very end.

It was a quiet game for goalkeeper Alison Clewlow, who kept her fourth clean sheet of the season.

n Leyland and Chorley Ladies 2nds bounced back from a number of losses to defeat Lancaster Nomads Ladies seconds 1-0.

L&C started strongly with some good attacking play through the middle of the park.

Lisa Evans had several attempts at goal, but plenty of the shots flew wide of the post.

Vickie Pilkington continued to cause problems down the right wing as L&C looked the better of the sides.

Penny Robb then produced a fine save from the Nomads keeper and then as the game edged towards the interval, a Robb shot was blocked an on hand was Vicky Pilkington who swept home the rebound.

The second half saw L&C dominate proceedings with Evans and Robb both spurning further chances.

Junior keeper Savannah Wilding was called upon late on to make two top saves.

And the tired legs of Leyland and Chorley held on for the rest of the half to seal all the points.
