Boxer Brian Rose, in action tomorrow at Manchester Arena, says weight worries are well behind him now that he has stepped up to campaign at middleweight.

The Blackpool fighter meets replacement opponent Ruslan Pojonisevs over eight rounds - the Latvian stepped in after Spanish veteran and former world title challenger Ruben Varon pulled out.

Rose admits it is a massive relief that he longer has to boil his frame down to the 11-stone super-welterweight mark.

He said: "I feel a lot better and a lot fitter.

"Now I am no longer thinking about losing weight for a fight.

"I am concentrating instead on getting strong, which should always be the main thing, not worrying about my weight.

"I feel loads better as a result

"I can only prove that on Saturday."
