Leyland 52 all out Lancaster 53-2

LEYLAND’S title hopes suffered another blow in a rain-affected game, which resulted in an eight-wicket defeat.

Dave Makinson’s side had a batting display to forget, as no batsman reached double figures, and they were all out in 30.5 overs.

In reply, Lancaster took only 20 overs to reach their target, Brett Pelser being the only bowler to get a wicket.

- The second team game was abandoned, because of the rain.

- The third team suffered a one-wicket defeat to Grimsargh in Division Three of the Palace Shield, in a low-scoring game at Wellfield Business and Enterprise College.

Leyland were all out for 96 in 33 overs, while their opponents managed to get the required runs in 34 overs.

Elsewhere on Sunday, they got back to winning ways with a 148-run win over Charnock Richard second team in the Crabtree Cup.

Leyland batted first, and managed to set a total of 173 for the loss of just two wickets in their 40 overs.

The bowlers did their worst, when they skittled their opponents out for 25 runs.

- The fourth team match with St Annes fourths was also called off on Saturday because of rain.
