Leyland CC skipper Dave Makinson tells us his thoughts about the past week’s matches

“I WAS relieved that at on losing the toss, the Carnforth skipper asked us to bat on a damp surface.

After losing Luis Reece early on, Henry Thompson and Adam Coates both played aggressively against an all spin attack and took us to over 50 before we lost our second wicket.

We then struggled, losing wickets at regular intervals and at 100-8 we were still 30 short of a decent score.

Through all of this, Henry was very watchful and decisive in his shot slection and played with great maturity and skill to see us to a more than defendable score of 136.

The Carnforth innings belonged to Luis Reece.

He delivered a great spell of swing bowling that the opposition had no answer to. They must hate the sight of Luis.

He took 7-10 against them two years ago when we bowled them out for less than 30.

It was nice to get back to winning ways after a couple of weekends without a victory.”
