Leyland CC captain Dave Makinson shares his views on the Fox Lane club’s successes and failures over the course of the weekend

“It was not a good weekend for Leyland.

The game at Lancaster on Saturday was extremely disappointing, apart from Luis and the injured Dale Jones and Karl Cross, we had a full team out against the team at the bottom of the League.

“However, after inserting us on a dry, but uneven surface, they bowled very well and took advantage of the inconsistent bounce. A score of 52 was an embarrassment, another 30 runs could have made it interesting against a fragile looking batting order, but it wasn’t to be, and we deservedly took a real hammering.

“Let’s hope this weekend was a blip, and we can get back to winning ways in another triple header, with Darwen away on Friday night in the 20/20, then against Netherfield at home on Saturday, in the league, followed up by Netherfield away on Sunday in the first round of the Readers Cup.”
