Leyland Cricket Club on Fox Lane
This was the scene at Leyland CC on Saturday as their league match with Netherfield was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
It was a similar tale around Chorley as most of the matches in the Palace Shield Competition involving our local teams were off.
Chorley CC were hoping the weather would pick up today for their Kingfisher Regional Cup final against Blackpool while Leyland travelled to Netherfield today (Sunday)
Elsewhere, Mawdesley CC were in cup action at Rectory Fields and Brinscall were expecting to be in Lawrenson Cup quarter-final action against Read.
However, there was one sport on Saturday that managed to take place - the North West Regional Fencing Championships at Albany Science College. The Guardian will be featuring coverage of the competition in Wednesday’s edition.
