Peter is Wright stuff for Greenwood
Tony Greenwood hopes journeyman striker Peter Wright can fire Bamber Bridge to the UniBond North play-offs.
Wright returned to Irongate for a second spell in December, scoring twice in four starts, including Brig's winner against Chorley in midweek.
Brig boss Greenwood said: "Peter has been out of football for two years. It's going to take him time to get up to speed, but he's made a great start.
"Peter is a goal poacher – he sniffs out chances and has had a prolific record in his career. His strike against Chorley was from two yards – but I don't care if he scores 25 from two yards, if he can help us over the line.
"He is still finding his feet, but I know there is a lot more to come from him. We've been missing a cutting edge up front, and Peter can provide that."
Wright, who won an FA Trophy medal with Burscough in 2003, had spells at Southport and Northwich Victoria before linking up with Brig in 2005.
He scored 10 times in 19 starts before joining Chorley, topping the scoring charts.
But Wright turned the tables on his former club on Tuesday, and a delighted Greenwood said: "We've had a poor record against Chorley in recent years, so it was terrific that we got the win that the fans craved.
"We all knew our predicament before the game, we hadn't won for two months.
"But the performance against Chorley was very good, all the players were up for it and we deserved to win.
"We've had a rough couple of months, and our frailties were exposed by Halifax and Lancaster last month, we'd got into a habit of losing.
"It was all about stopping the rot and now we've done that we have to try and kick on and show we can do battle with the best teams in this division."
