A rugby league team from Leyland is celebrating after three of their sporting teams enjoyed wins at the weekend.
Leyland Warriors Open Age side continued their good start to the season with a remarkable comeback to record a 26-28 victory over Warrington outfit Latchford Albion.
Trailing 22-4 in the second half, the Warriors hadn’t read the script when they came back to win in the dying minutes.
Man of the match Tom Lever stole the show with four superb tries, while Pete Heatley also got on the scoresheet.
They will be gearing up for a tough fixture against local rivals Adlington Rangers on Saturday, at Moss Side Playing Fields.
Meanwhile, the Warriors Under-12 side won 32-8 against New Spring Lions.
Henry Aspey opened the scoring for the Warriors, which William Sharples converted, and they followed it up with another try by Jack Ambrose.
The Lions responded with two tries of their own, but Warriors had the upper hand at half-time when Aspey got his second of the game.
After the interval, Daniel Almond scored with a quick dart from dummy half, then Luke Robinson got his name on the scoresheet.
Lewis Redfearn crashed over for the next try before Robinson grabbed his second, which rounded off the scoring.
The clean sweep of wins was recorded by the Under-8 side, who defeated Oldham St Annes 24-36.
It was their second victory in October, and was down to tries by Luke Weston, Matthew Quinn with two and Ciro Pranzo with an incredible six.
Leyland Warriors are a Clubmark Gold club who are always looking for new players aged six and over, regardless of experience or ability.
