Warriors Chris is back

A Wigan Warriors star from Leyland has stepped up his recovery from a knee injury which has kept him out of action for eight months.

Chris Tuson, 21, injured his left knee last season in action for the reserves against Leeds Rhinos, only a few months after making his senior debut for the Warriors.

However, Tuson came through the pain barrier in his first game back as a substitute for the reserve side against Celtic Crusaders.

The former Bamber Bridge RL team player said: "It is great to get back involved with the reserve team, but I was a bit nervous after going into my first tackle.

"It was a bit painful but after I realised my knee was okay I just got on with playing and now I'm trying to get my match fitness back.

"I feel lucky that my ball handling skills have not got worse as that would put me further behind in terms of my recovery time.

"I just have to work on getting fit again, but I can do some extra training so I can try to get 80 minutes under my belt."
